Wooster Chamber Music Series Welcomes Trio Solisti on January 13

Trio SolistiThe Wooster Chamber Music Series welcomes Trio Solisti to the 28th season with a concert on January 13. The 3:00 pm concert will be in Gault Recital Hall in Scheide Music Center, on the College of Wooster Campus. Tickets for the concert are $15, and available at the Wooster Book Company, Florence O. Wilson Bookstore, or at the door beginning at 2:00 pm. The program will feature Turina’s Trio No 2 in B minor, Chausson’s Trio in G minor, Op 3, and the trio’s own arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Hailed "The most exciting piano trio in America" by The New Yorker Magazine, Trio Solisti celebrated their 10th Anniversary in the 2011-2012 season. The trio is comprised of instrumentalists - violinist Maria Bachmann, cellist Alexis Pia Gerlach and pianist Jon Klibonoff. Trio Solisti’s soulful and passionate performances are marked by soloistic virtuosity, electric energy, seamless ensemble playing, and thrilling abandon. These qualities have drawn high praise from such journals as The New York Times (“consistently brilliant") and The Washington Post (“unrelenting passion and zealous abandon in a transcendent performance.”). The trio has made critically acclaimed debuts at The Kennedy Center, in New York City for Lincoln Center’s Great Performers Series and at Town Hall’s Peoples’ Symphony Concerts, the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts, and as guests of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

The concert will feature Trio Solisti's own arrangement of Mussorgsky's monumental composition, Pictures at an Exhibition. Gramaphone Magazine raved "Trio Solisti's arrangement skillfully recasts Mussorgsky's musical gallery" and Fanfare Magazine called the performances "astonishing in sparkling clarity...surging with sensuality and dramatic contrasts.
